Marape’s discriminatory handling of Opposition MP’s DSIP Funds now lands in Supreme Court.
The Member for Bulolo and Chairman of the Bulolo District Joint District Planning & Budget Priorities Committee, Mr Sam Basil has announced that he will be taking the Government to court over it's discriminatory handling of DSIP funds for Bulolo District. According to Mr Basil, his lawyers have already filed legal documents with the Supreme Court on 07th January, 2014 and he is awaiting the Supreme Court to fix a date for the hearing. As a direct result of the discriminatory and politically motivated delay tactics of the Government in delaying the release of DSIP funds for the District, my people had suffered set- backs in the delivery of basic Government services. The people of Bulolo District had suffered at the hands of the Prime Minister and his Financial Ambassador,Mr. James Marape who had come down very low and had levelled personal attacks on me for being vocal and speaking against the Government, Mr Basil said. For the benefit of the people of Bulolo District who had paid the prize for the role I have played as Deputy Opposition Leader to defend the people of PNG, I am taking the Government to court and I name James Marape, Don Polye, Charles Abel, Peter O’Neill, Ken Ngangan,Dairy Vele, Juliana Kubak, Paul Sai, Manezupe Zurenouc and the Independent State of Papua New Guinea as first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eight and ninth respondents,Mr.Basil said. My humble intention in pursuing this case with the Court of Law is to fight for justice and I wish to set a precedent so that similar mal-administrative and politically engineered delay tactics are not repeated in the future. If this is to happen, somebody will have to take the lead and set the precedent and this is exactly what I strive to achieve through the judiciary system, Mr Basil concluded. Other Opposition MPs representing Vanimo Green, Rabaul, Huon Gulf, Pomio and Madang Regional are expected to file similar cases soon. The expected planned protest by the Bulolo MP scheduled for the 10th of January 2014 outside Vulupindi Haus has now been called off due to the matter now before the Supreme Court.
