Convicted Parliamentarian Anthon Yagama says he is still the Member for Usino-Bundi, despite being served a 9-month court sentence.
Mr. Yagama's comments comes amid uncertainties among the people of his electorate. But speaking on NBC Radio Madang, Mr. Yagama says he is still the member for Usino Bundi and will carry on his term until the next election in 2017. "So mi kliarim tasol olsem memba blong yupla Anthon Yagama, em memba blong yupla yet inap 2017. "Nogat wanpela by-election bai kamap," Mr. Yagama said. Yagama explained that he was sentenced to 9-months in jail but is currently out on bail, saying he is not happy with the National Court ruling, and is appealing it at the Supreme Court. Mr Yagama says the title of a M-P will only be striped from a person if he or she is jailed for over 9-months, but he is safe. Yagama told his people that despite everything that has happened, his commitments as MP will still be fulfilled. Comments are closed.
