Member for Moresby North-East, Labi Amaiu, is urging people not to tarnish the names of leaders, using social media, for their personal interests. Mr. Amaiu said this, in response to a post in the social media P-N-G News page, which commented on his shopping spree in a mall in Cairns, Australia during the festive season, with family and friends. The post also claims the member for Moresby North East had bought off properties in Cairns and resides there instead of living in Port Moresby. The particular post drew a lot of negative comments on the member, describing him as one of those corrupt leaders. But the member has refuted these claims, saying he has the right to his private and social life with his families and friends. Labi Amaiu further says he did not use any public monies with his families. He says he was a successful businessman before entering Parliament, and urged those people making negative comments to do their research properly before getting on to social media.
