The Parliament Member for Manus, Ronney Knight, is calling on the Minister for Immigration to urgently act on the case of an asylum seeker who is refusing to live in the Detention Centre and is roaming Lorengau town.
Ronny Knight says the man is violently aggressive to both the locals and fellow asylum seekers and refugees at the Detention Center. Mr. Knight says the man is believed to be mentally unstable and is a risk to the community at large. Mr. Knight told NBC News, the man had recently attacked several people in town, including another asylum seeker. The local MP wants authorities responsible for the asylum seekers to immediately get proper psychological help for the man, further querying who is responsible for the asylum seekers and refugees on the island.
