The Principal of Korowi lawyers, charge for belting his mother-in-law, appeared before the Waigani Committal Court, yesterday.
Philemon Wass Korowi, 45, from Tambul and Mul-Baiyer Districts, in Western Highlands, was charged with one count of assault, causing grievous bodily harm. The victim, Lero Kobol a grandmother laid the complaint to police early last month of the abuse which took place at June Valley in Port Moresby. Police reports say, Mr Korowi belted his in law after accusing her of protecting his wife. It was reported Korowi who was under the influence of alcohol while beating her as neighbours watched helplessly. Kobol sustained serious injuries on the face as well as broken fingers after a tyre rim was used to beat her up. The matter was also reported to the media the next day, which caused outburst amongst the public. Korowi was apprehended by police on the 31st last month, charged, and is out on a one thousand kina bail. The magistrate has given police further 3 months to complete investigations and ordered for the matter to return on May fifth Comments are closed.
