The new Opposition Leader Beldan Namah in a press conference this afternoon assured the nation, the five men opposition team will continue with the Supreme Court Reference, filed by the former opposition leader, Patrick Pruaitch, on the 30th of May 2019, questioning the validity of the election of Prime Minister James Marape . Mr Namah, says the Opposition believes that process was not followed and this will be heard by the court for their deliberation and decision, based on rule of law. Mr Namah says the Prime Minister is mistaken if he thinks by taking in the former opposition leader into government, will stop this legal process. He says the Opposition team of five will continue to pursue the Supreme Court Reference , which is set to go for full trial on the 20th of September 2019. Mr Namah, as the Leader of the Opposition, says they will continue with this legal process so that that our people have certainty and know that our Constitution and Parliamentary process was followed in electing the most important position in our country and if process is not followed, then Opposition will ensure that it is. The Opposition Leader further says the Prime Minister should have nothing to fear from this court process and should believe in the impartiality of our judiciary. Mr Namah says if it is found, that the Prime Minister was not duly elected, through proper process, he will have the opportunity to prove his numbers on the floor of Parliament and cement his position and if he has confidence in his support, this should not be a problem for him. The five men opposition team consists of Vanimo Green MP, Beldan Namah as Opposition Leader, Rabaul MP Dr Allan Marat as Deputy Opposition Leader, Kandrian Gloucester MP Joseph Lelang, Kerema MP Richard Mendani and Governor West Sepik Tony Wouwou.
