The Inaugural Melanesian Cup match between the Rabaul Agmark Gurias and the Fiji Sabeto Roosters will coincide with Fiji’s Independence Anniversary tomorrow and will be a bonus for the visitors to commemorate their country’s anniversary with a win. However the home side are hell-bent on making history and will not easily give way to the Fijians. In a press conference today team coaches and captains told media representatives that they have little knowledge of each other and their ways of ball play and would soon find out after tomorrow’s internationally sanctioned match. Rabaul Agmark Gurias Coach Steven Nightingale said they are looking forward to a different match against the Fijian Sabeto Roosters after spending two weeks in training which he said was enough to get them through and above the Fijians. The lineup of the home side remains the same from the Digicel Cup Championship after the final cut was made on Thursday. Nightingale thanked all their sponsors who are very supportive of the team especially Agmark. Fiji Sabeto Roosters Coach Voate Naravu said the match will be a good one and there’s more to learn from each other. They will be sticking to their routine and game plan. He urged fellow Fijians in Papua New Guinea to come along on Saturday to support them. Sabeto Roosters Captain Viliame Rakuli Vuki said this would be the first time for them to play with the Gurias and it will be an honour and wonderful experience for the team having winning two local championships in Fiji in 2010 and 2013 and playing at this level internationally will be rewarding for them. Rabaul Agmark Gurias Captain Tisa Kautu who led a successful win against the Simbu Trans Niugin Aviation Lions in the Digicel Rugby which added the points to the Gurias winning streak said his team mates are looking forward for an entertaining match.
