The 14 fishermen from Vietnam who surprisingly docked into the waters of Wewak in the East Sepik Province last week are now currently being interviewed by Immigration Officials who flew into the province over the weekend to thoroughly screen the 14 men.
According to the Wewak Police Station Commander James Baugen, three of the fishermen including the captain were sea sick and are being treated at the Boram Hospital. "The captain and another crew member were in very critical conditions, and are now recieving treatment as the other crew members are being interviewed by immigrations officers," said Mr Baugen. Mr Baugen also says that rest of the crew members are being watched by Police on board their vessel and once their interviews are being completed by immigrations officials, they will then decide whether to charged them for illegal entry in to PNG or release them on humanitarian grounds.
