After a distinguished career in the judiciary, retired Judge Mark JS Sevua CBE, MStJ, has died. Formal details of his death have yet to be released, but it is understood that he died at his home in Manus. The former judge retired from the judiciary in 2010 after a five year extension of his term was not granted. One of his last official tasks was the investigation into the causes of the student boycott at the University of Technology in Lae in 2013. Sevua played a key role in diffusing tensions between the National government and students demanding the return of Vice Chancellor, Dr. Albert Schram. The late retired Judge Mark JS Sevua CBE, MStJ served in the legal and judicial services for 34 years as a lawyer and a Judge; with 16 years in government and private legal services and 18 years as a Senior Supreme Court Judge.
