![]() Australian Prime Minister Morrison spent the first day of the new year hosting a game of backyard cricket between the Australia and New Zealand cricket teams, welcoming them to Kirribilli house. He said the cricket test would inspire Australians, but many have disagreed with him and slammed him on social media. One user tweeted an image of the devastating fires with the message: "Scott Morrison: smile! How good's the cricket?" Another called it 'abominable' that the prime minister was hosting backyard cricket ''while the nation burns". One person tweeted "Honestly wondering, what IS wrong with #ScottMorrison? No normal human reactions are coming from him. It is actually bizarre. Please explain." Morrison has already faced huge backlash for holidaying in Hawaii while the fires burned out of control back home. He later apologised for the ill-timed trip. "To those Australians I caused upset to, I apologise for that." But his apology didn't stop Australian artist Scott Marsh from painting a holiday mural mocking Morrison. Despite Morrison fronting a press conference on the ongoing crisis, more action will need to be done to win back the support of the public.
