Words by Hon James Donald, North Fly MP
I don't want to waste my time arguing with my own landowners who don't understand what they are doing and saying as they are being used and influenced by certain parties. I equally respect any landowner group but by law under OGA, no landowner group is legitimate or recognized until after development forum is concluded and PDL license is issued.
These LO groups are being pressured by money lenders and service providers who accumulate bills well over in millions. They stay in POM and tie deals with certain investors or JV partners committing everything you would name it. They are also controlled by certain groups and people with vested interests who are acting like consultants and lawyers.
My fellow citizens, I am totally ashamed to see a State Minister who has come down too low to find landowners in POM. He tried to round up few of them and was seeking support and influencing them on the project promising them all the lollies. He asked the LOs to go to media or rebuttal on my statement to give confidence to the Investors and State. He advised the poor landowners what to say and announce.
Minister, you didn't know that the LOs are my people and their mandate are with me.
I am 100% concluding now that this Minister and parties involved all have a greater conflict of interest in this project and so will do all the nonsense trying to create divide and rule tactics as has been the case ever in PNG resources development records. They must have cooked deal outside already as the game always happens in PNG.
I am waiting to hear from the Minister in response to my earlier statement that ExxonMobil illegally is holding onto the license. If I am him, then I would easily admit that it's true and announce to the nation.
My recommendation to PM is to reconsider such Ministers who are playing with our country's sovereignty and people's lifes.
Anyone may argue with me that you a in the government and why you not communicating, well some Ministers act big boys and can't even understand things they are doing. Even you advice facts they still can't believe and correct the wrong.
Minister Kua and I used to be advocates on the opposition bench but today I am ashamed he is doing the opposite while in the government.
For me even I am in government but won't keep my mouth shut so long as something concerns this country and my people.
In the meantime, I will honor my commitment of K500,000 to the Department of Petroleum to push the legislation and I stand to inform my landowners to not listen to such Minister who will mislead us into dead hole as Western Province was forever misled by Waigani swamp politics and they have built empires using our resources. Have we Western Province not learned enough?
I have this proof of picture taken yesterday when the Minister was with these same LOs in their discussion and the outcome is on today's Post and National news papers.
Stop using my landowners to gain support when you would as a Minister talk to me and my Governor in person facing us as real man. I have made my best attempt to talk to you and send text message and WhatsApp yet you don't bother and blocked my number.
