The PNG government’s intention to achieve a K200 billion economy over the next few years is achievable. Prime Minister James Marape expressed this, encouraging Papua New Guineans to cultivate the land and invest in the agriculture sector. He says every citizen must work together in the agriculture sector to reach that target. Papua New Guinea’s economy has reached more than K100 billion over the last three years. Hence it is the government’s vision to reach another K100 billion over the next few years. Prime Minister James Marape revealed this recently.
Marape says we must learn to get our hands dirty, encouraging citizens and families to work the land to complement the government’s pillar policy. Marape says the government is accommodating all children, relieving parents from paying fees. He encouraged parents to divert what they’ve saved for their children to agricultural investments. The agriculture sector is a sleeping giant that needs to be awakened and what better way to do it is to motivate the very people at the foot of that sleeping giant.
