President of the Papua New Guinea Kickboxing Association Stanley Nandex said he still runs the body that should sanction fights in the country.
He said despite the recent appointment of Rickson Yamo as the World Kickboxing Federation representative in the country, the PNGKBA was the legitimate body. Nandex said in a media release last Friday that the PNGKBA was the recognised governing body to sanction any kickboxing activities, associations, schools or clubs in the country. He said the WKF was one of several sanctioning bodies operating in the world which the PNGKBA previously had an affiliation with. Nandex said the PNGKBA was an affiliate of World Kickboxing Federation (WKF) World Kickboxing Association (WKA), A1 World Combat Cup and International Sports Karate Association (ISKA). “The appointment of Rickson Yamo as president in PNG is only for WKF affairs in the country but he is not the president of the country’s federation. “There is only one legal body which is the PNGKBA and WKF can affiliate to PNGKBA if they wish to,” Nandex said. “We are preparing for the 6th PNG Games in Lae and such information must not mislead the progress and the preparations of the members. “The association is a partner in the social development in the country as an agent for change with positive outcome and people must respect the values of the code and its morals,” Nandex said.
