Preparations are underway to stage the Rugby Union Women's 7s championships in Port Moresby in March.
The tournament has attracted teams from as far as Bougainville, Eastern Highlands and Est New Britain. P-N-G-R-F-U's Training and Education Manager Sailosi Druma said this will be the first ever Women's National Sevens Championships. He says thy have engaged the National Television Service Kundu 2 to cover the tournament leading to the finals. A P-N-G side will be selected from this tournament to represent the country in Hong Kong's women's 7 tournament end of March. Druma said they are pleased now to be partnering the Kundu 2 TV for the coverage and ambitious of the support of driving the Women's empowerment through sports is one of the major tools of development in the country.He said the event can be the delayed telecast and they are asking for only one hour which will cover all the finals on the 2nd of March,2014.He said PNG Rugby Union has been in the code on Women's division for over a decade and in that time has contributed much to the development of the Women's rugby in the country and abroad.
