Kumuls in training Source: The National, IT DOES not happen often but Adrian Lam left yesterday morning’s second last training session at home for the Residents XIII a very excited coach. “I have goose-bumps right now boys,” Lam told his side at the final huddle before the end of the morning session. “There’s a good vibe here and it’s exciting.” Lam’s admission came at the end of a comprehensive defensive on-the-line training session. “Defence is something that we desperately want to improve,” he said. “It’s exciting when you see things you work hard for come off like that. “They’re all confident and comfortable around and with each other and it makes things a lot easier. “They came together for the Prime Minister’s XIII and then here again, that’s what development is about.” Captain Glen Nami shared his coach’s sentiments. “It’s about two things for us, desire and attitude,” he said. “The desire and wanting to do what we have to do to achieve what we want to achieve and the attitude and mindset to achieve it.” Nami admitted the side was focused on the match against NRL club South Sydney and that although the talk of Kumuls jerseys up being up for grabs was unavoidable, they did not want to look too far ahead. “We just want to concentrate on getting what we can from the South Sydney game, and trying out things that we work on at training, for the process leading to the World Cup,” Nami said., Lam said this weekend’s Cabramatta 9s was not the most important thing for the team and that it would be ‘a bit of fun’. “We are not driven by a result for the nines, it is more of a warm-up, which we will use to finalise our side for South Sydney.” The Residents XIII play the Rabbitohs on Saturday week.
