Rugby union star Quade Cooper . Image. yahoo.com Rugby union star Quade Cooper could be set to walk away from the sport as he increasingly courts more controversy. According to reports the Wallabies and Queensland Reds five-eighth is looking more unlikely to play another game for either side as contract negotiations continue to deteriorate. Cooper, who is currently sidelined due to injury, had indicated that he would remain with the Reds for another three seasons, but the Australia Rugby Union part of that contract is still to be completed. With his recent outburst at New Zealand born Wallabies coach Robbie Deans and the fact he called the national side a 'toxic' environment on Twitter it seems Cooper may have done his dash the code. According to further reports sources are said to have told Fairfax media that Cooper is unlikely to play a part in Australia rugby in 2013. It is thought that an overseas stint with a French team, or a switch to the NRL is likely for the New Zealand-born player. Cooper has previously expressed a desire to play in the lucrative NRL, while good friend Sonny Bill Williams has spoken of playing with Cooper in the code in the future. It is believed that Cooper's Super Rugby side the Queensland Reds are expecting their star to return to the club next season, but they concede that he must mend his rift with the ARU before that can happen.
