Parliamentary Leader of the National Alliance Party Hon. Patrick Pruaitch has been the Minister for Treasury of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea since March 2014. As the Minister for Treasury, Hon Pruaitch was also the Chairman for the Boards of Governors of the IMF/WBG in 2014. Hon. Pruaitch holds a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Economics from the University of Papua New Guinea. His other political appointments have included: Minister for Forests (2002-2007), Minister for Treasury and Finance (2007-2010), Minister for Forests and Climate Change (2012-2014). His additional work experience includes: Regional Operations Manager for New Guinea Islands with South Pacific Breweries, Regional Manager for Momase Region with South Pacific Breweries, one (1) year engagement with major Asian business leader Asia Pacific Breweries in Singapore, Retail Manager, Momase Region with Shell (PNG) Ltd. Hon. Pruaitch is a four-time elected Member of Parliament for Aitape-Lumi Electorate from 2002, 2007, 2012 and 2017 national elections respectively. He is the States man of Independent State of Papua New Guinea. Sir Michael was Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea from 2002 to 2011; he had previously been Prime Minister from independence in 1975 until 1980 and again from 1982 until 1985. Somare's first two terms were as a member of the Pangu Party, but he then became leader of the National Alliance Party. He was re-elected as Prime Minister in the 2007 election, and his family announced his resignation due to ill health in June 2011. On 12 December 2011, the Supreme Court of Papua New Guinea ordered that Somare be reinstated as Prime Minister, ruling that his successor, Peter O'Neill, was not lawfully appointed. Wikipedia Dame Carol Kidu, (formerly, Lady Kidu), born on 10 October 1948 is an Australian-born Papua New Guinean politician. She was the only female Member of Parliament in the 2002-2007 and 2007-2012 National Parliaments, and served as Minister for Community Development under Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare from 2002 to 2 August 2011 and as Opposition Leader from 15 February 2012 until her retirement from politics in July 2012. She was the leader of the Melanesian Alliance Party until her retirement. Born as Carol Anne Millwater in Shorncliffe, Queensland, Australia, she relocated to Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea after marrying Buri Kidu, who later became Sir Buri Kidu after being knighted in 1980 on his appointment as the first indigenous Chief Justice of Papua New Guinea.
