Police Commissioner Geoffrey Vaki, has assured the public, all is well within the force which will continue to discharge its Constitutional mandated duties.
He made this comments in light of infighting between officers, on Sunday. Mr Vaki, whilst condemning the incident, says this wasn't supposed to happen, as agreements were reached to maintain status quo, as required by the court. Commissioner Vaki said he left the Constabulary stable and intact before his travel to New Zealand for the 43rd Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police Conference. He however said, Fraud Director Chief Superintendent Matthew Damaru upon obtaining authorisation from Acting Commissioner, Awan Sete went ahead to serve contempt charges against a number of senior officers. This has resulted in the confrontation between Special Services Division based at Mc Gregor barracks and Fraud Squad members resulting in the abuse of two serious officers. The commissioner has directed Mr Sete to provide and explanation whilst warning Damaru that disobedience to the court order will result in contempt charges against him.
