Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea: The Embassy of the United States of America and the PNG-USA Alumni Association invite all alumni to attend the association’s meeting this Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the American Corner, located at the National Library in Waigani. Ambassador Walter North will give remarks and the U.S. Embassy will carry out a registration drive to reconnect with alumni. Media representatives are welcome to cover the event. PNG-USA Alumni are Papua New Guineans who have participated in U.S. government-sponsored exchange programs or studied in the United States, as well as Americans who have participated in exchange or research programs in Papua New Guinea. The U.S. Embassy in Port Moresby has prioritized initiatives to engage alumni in Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu by connecting them to each other and to the global community of alumni. “I encourage all PNG alumni to participate in the PNG-USA Association and to register for free on the International Exchange Alumni Website (alumni.state.gov) to build on their exchange experience,” said Natalia Capel, U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Officer. Membership to this exclusive online community grants access to: $33 billion worth of grant opportunities; Professional development resources; Exclusive video webchats with VIPs; and 20,000 online magazines and newspapers. Website members can also network with fellow alumni around the world; recruit fellow alumni for projects and competitions; find the latest research in your field; develop plans for your alumni association, or find an association to join; share your experience with a global audience; and read alumni success stories, perspectives, and ideas. The U.S. Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs sponsors international exchanges for more than 70,000 individuals every year. All of these exchanges work to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other nations. The more than one million alumni of these exchange programs continue these efforts throughout their lifetimes. Around the globe, alumni foster mutual understanding by sharing their talents, knowledge, experience, and time with their community. Comments are closed.
