Students at the University of Papua New Guinea have presented a petition to the government, calling on Prime Minister Peter O'Neil to cancel the 3-billion Kina UBS loan, or resign.
Finance Minister James Marape and Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister's office Isaac Lupari, received the petition on behalf of the Prime Minister last Friday, at the Waigani campus in Port Moresby. Attorney General and Justice Minister Kerenga Kua, State Enterprises Minister Ben Micah and Treasurer Patrick Pruaitch, all failed to turn up, despite also being invited Student Representative President Bobby Yupi says a collective decision was reached by the student body resulting in the petition.
