Classes are expected to resume tomorrow at the University of Technology in Lae, following the return of Dr. Albert Schram this afternoon.
Hundreds of students were at the Nadzab Airport to receive the Vice Chancellor and travelled in a convoy back to the campus, where Dr Schram was given a rousing welcome. In his address to the students, Dr. Schram urged them to return to class, while he and the staff work on their Academic Calendar tomorrow . The students have been boycotting classes for five weeks now, demanding the return of Dr Schram who's been living in Australia, after he was sacked by the UNITECH Council and deported by the Government two years ago. The Government has given him the green-light to return. Minister for Higher Education, Science, Research and Technology Delilah Gore, on Friday announced the appointment of a new UNITIECH Council under her ministerial powers and the University Act. The University Council is headed by Sir Nagora Bogan, who was appointed as the Chancellor. The Sevua report was also given to the Council to implement its recommendations. The new Council's first business was the appointment of Dr Albert Schram, as the Vice Chancellor. Comments are closed.
