Two Papua New Guinea Defence Force officers and two soldiers based at the Forward Operating Base in Vanimo have been suspended over allegations of robbery. The Operations Officer of the Second Royal Pacific Islands Regiment in Moem Barracks in Wewak, East Sepik, has effected the suspension and disarming of the four members. An Investigating Officer from the P-N-G-D-F Headquarters in Murray Barracks is also in Vanimo to investigate the allegations. P-N-G Defence Force Commander, Brigadier General Gilbert Toropo, said allegations of robbery are a civil case and are very serious. Commander Toropo has ordered the members to be handed over to police. He said, if they are found guilty, they will be immediately dismissed, adding, the Force will not tolerate criminal behaviour.
