Taskforce Sweep's first conviction was secured today. Hon Paul Tiensten, member for Pomio and former Minister for National Planning was convicted on one count of misappropriating for his part in the K10million that was paid to Travel Air to start an airline company. THE National Planning and Monitoring Department paid K10 million to a Kokopo-based businessman Eremas Wartoto to start his private airline company and millions more were paid out to senior staff of the department.
Ministerial staff of Paul Tiensten and associates also collected millions of Kina in “bogus project” payments made between March and May 2011. Submission on sentencing will be done on 21st January 2014. Comments are closed.
