The sentencing of Komo Magarima M-P, Francis Potape, has been welcomed by the Investigation Task Force Sweep.
Chairman Sam Koim said he's satisfied with the outcome so far, and thanked the members of the police prosecution achieving a great outcome despite all odds. Mr. Potape was jailed for two-and-a-half years with hard labour, for misappropriation of public funds and fraud against the State, last week. This is one of the cases Task Force Sweep had initiated, among other high profile people including Prime Minister Peter O'Neill. Another successful case by Task Force Sweep is that of Pomio M-P and former National Planning Minister, Paul Tiensten, who's now serving a nine year jail term at Bomana. Mr. Koim said the Sweep team has more cases prepared to go to court.
