Australia's former Prime minister has defended his government's controversial policy of reopening asylum seeker detention centers on Papua New Guinea and Nauru.
The former Labour leader Kevin Rudd said Australia faces a serious problem of people smugglers attempting the journey between Indonesia and Australia, which has to be stopped. Mr Rudd said a large number of asylum seekers who attempted the dangerous journey are not genuine asylum seekers. He said the arrangement is a political problem that Australia is facing, and it is doing its best to address people smuggling. Comments are closed.
