Prime Minister Peter O'Neill has confidently declared that his Peoples National Congress party and its coalition partners in government will be back in power after the 2017 general election. Addressing the PNC Convention Gala in Port Moresby last night, Mr O'Neill admitted it's not been an easy task for the Government, but they have managed to lay the foundation for continued growth of the country. Mr O'Neill says, the foundations are right to build a modern Papua New Guinea for the people: "We are going into elections in 2017, and I know that our people and the country will judge us fairly in some of the things that we've been doing over the past 5 to 6 years. "We have met enormous challenge unlike what any previous governments have faced. "We have been tested in many fronts, and we've come through much today like never before. "PNG now is a very strong party as we go into the elections, and I can assure you that with our coalition partners, we will be back after 2017 National Election." The P-N-C has been a political party for 20 years and the second time in government. NBC/PNGfacts Next news >>US report critizises PNG
