The Leader of the People's Progress Party, says his party will have no part in a planned Vote of No Confidence against Prime Minister Peter O'Neil and his Governement.
Papua New Guinea's second largest political party and a major coalition partner in the O'Neil Government, the National Alliance, was reportedly split this week, with its dissatisfied members, which include East Sepik Governor Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare, allegedly planning a move across to the Opposition. But PPP Leader Ben Micah, told NBC News, the ruling People's National Congress Party has the majority numbers, and a split among smaller coalition member parties will not hurt the Government. "The People's National Congress Party has a very big majority. "They can govern in their own rights. "They have more than 60 members. "What happens to the smaller parties is irrelevant and insignificant. "If the PNC splits, into maybe four or five different groups, and supports such a move, then there can be some possibilty. "Otherwise, what happens to the NA is has no significant bearing to the ruling party," Mr. Micah told the NBC. Source: NBC
