Komo Magarima MP Francis Potape has welcomed the announcement by PM Peter O’Neill and has maintained that he is the legally appointed governor of Hela Province. His comments come after PM Peter O’Neill stated in parliament this morning that the government didn’t recognise the appointment of the Koroba Lake Kopiago MP Philip Undialu as governor in an announcement by the DPM Leo Dion. However the government said an appointment will be made during the Hela Provincial Assembly meet later this month. “I am the one who has been legally elected and I am the governor of Hela Province and we will not hold any Assembly meetings because I am the one who is recognized. And if the government refuses to recognise me, I am going to go to the courts,” said Mr. Potape.
