The P-N-G Teachers Association is threatening industrial action, if more than
25-thousand of its teachers are not put on their correct salary levels.... Association General-Secretary, Ugwalubu Mowana told a Port Moresby news conference yesterday, the State has breached an agreement on teachers' salaries, which will run from 2014 to 2016. The Association said, after signing the Salary Fixation Agreement with the State last year, it now finds that 25,097 of its teachers mostly from elementary and primary schools are not on their correct salary levels. Mr. Mowana said, the salary discrepancies amount to about one-point-four-million Kina. The Association is demanding an immediate meeting with the Teaching Service Commission and the Department of Education either today or tomorrow, on the matter. It has also notified the office of the Industrial Registrar of the breach of the Teaching Service Salary Fixation Agreement. Comments are closed.
