The Teaching Service Commission, and the Papua New Guinea Teachers Association have dispelled rumors of a looming nationwide teachers
strike. T-S-C Chairman Barani Sori denied the industrial action, following reports of a mass circulation of text messages and emails regarding the action. Mr Sori has informed teachers that the T-S-C and P-N-G-T-A have mutually agreed to implement the Memorandum of Agreement for the Determination of Salaries and Allowances for teachers. Mr Sori said the issue was jointly brought to the Minister for Education who instructed both organizations to thoroughly investigate and immediately resolved the issue. The TSC Chairman said they should not have a problem with the teachers salaries and allowances for 2014 to 2016. Mr Sori also dismissed talks of a back payment for next fortnight, adding that only 2014 salaries and allowances will be paid on the new agreement. Comments are closed.
