PNG's Supreme Court has ruled as unconstitutional amendments passed by the Parliament which affected the power and function of the Ombudsman Commission (OC).
Chief Justice Sir Salamo Injia delivered a 35 -page ruling yesterday on behalf of a panel judges inclduing Deputy Chief Justice Gibbs Salika, Justice Bernard Sakora, Justice Nicholas Kirriwom and Justice Les Gavara Nanu. Parliament made amendments to Section 27(5) of the organic law which targeted the authority of the OC.
