PNG Opposition plans Vote of No Confidence for November, while O'Neill remain confident of power8/10/2015 The Opposition, says will it put a motion of no-confidence in the Prime Minister during the November session of Parliament over corruption allegations.
Leader, Don Polye, says Peter O'Neill is having those involved in a corruption investigation against him punished. Among the accusations, Mr. Polye, says police officers who sort an arrest warrant for Mr O'Neil have been sacked. And the Chief Magistrate who issued the warrant is also under investigation. Mr. Polye, told Radio Australia, the no-confidence motion addresses issues more serious than minor politics, and Government MPs should support it. "They have a duty to protect the interest of the country, and this is the time, that the Government members should come out and say "we will support the Vote of No Confidence as moved by the Opposition, because of this very serious, grave misconduct by the Prime Minister," Mr. Polye told Radio Australia. Meantime, Prime Minister Peter O'Neill is confident, assuring the nation that his Government will remain in power until the 2017 General Elections. He made these remarks while opening the new Tatana Araira Development Association center, south of Port Moresby today. O'Neill told the people not to worry about Waigani politics and that his government would be there until 2017. He says that those on social media including a few leaders who have ulterior motives will not derail his Government's focus in delivering services for the nation. O'Neill says that his government is mandated by the people of Papua New Guinea in 2012 and is intact. "Our Government will remain up to 2017. "Don't worry about the few people on social media or elsewhere. "We already know about them. "They are not new to us," the Prime Minister said. He says, Papua New Guinean's are not blind, because they can see the positive changes happening infront of them, and it is only those who want to be blind will remain blind, while his government continue to change this nation.
