PNG parliamatentrians have voted overwhelmingly to give themselves a 7% annual pay rise over three years starting January 1 in 2014.
The 7% rise will be backdated to January 1, 2013 and will also cover 2014 and 2015. On top that Parliament also approved a 7.5% General Public Services pay increase to be added the leaders salaries. Public Service Minister Sir, Puka Temu told parliament that this was his christmass gift to the MPs. "This is my gift to all of you before christmass" Said Sir Puka. While the MPs will enjoy the massive increase in their pays, it is stood that there is no pay increase for public servants throughout the country. Comments are closed.
