PNG is ready to host the FIFA 2016 U20 Womens World Cup soccer come November this year. And last night’s launch of the official emblem and slogan signified the kick off to the U20 women’s tournament as PNG women showcase skill and talent against 16 other soccer nations. Oceania Football Confederation President David Chung said it was historic for our U20 women’s team who are the first team from our nation to take part in a FIFA World Cup challenge. "Its a historic event too for all women footballers in the country who will be able to watch world class players in action here in Papua New Guinea," said President Chung. Prime Minister Peter O’Neill, Sports Minister Justine Tkatchenko, NCD Governor Powes Parkop and President Chung unveiled the emblem and the slogan for the U20 tournament, “To Inspire, to excel.” PM Peter O'Neill who was humbled to witness such an occasion said the tournament will increase the image of the country to the world and they will see for themselves how PNG is developing itself. "PNG's image is changing. We are a fast developing nation in the region and the U20 World Cup will further enhance the recognition we a getting," said Mr. O'Neill.
