The Papua New Guinea government's decision to invest more than 300 million kina in the luxury Star Mountain Plaza Project in Port Moresby is being called into question by Transparency International. The five-star complex is costing the landowners one-point-two billion kina, while the Mineral Resources Authority is funding the government's 20 per cent stake. But the chairman of Transparency International PNG, Lawrence Stephens, has doubts about whether the deal represents value for money at a time when the PNG economy is under huge pressure.
