Nominations for the Pomio By-election opened this afternoon, allowing intending candidates to put their hands up to compete the vacant seat.
This was after the Writs were signed and issued this morning by the Governor General Sir Michael Ogio. Three-point-six million Kina has been made available by the Government, for the Electoral Commission to conduct the by-election. Commissioner Andrew Trawen said, they are ready to conduct the event. Training and briefing for the five Returning Officers were conducted last weekend, and Polling Officers will also undergo training prior to voting. Ballot papers are currently being printed, and will be distributed in Pomio on the 9th of May.
