A major renovation and maintenance of houses of Defence Force officers throughout its various barracks' across the country will soon get underway, as the Government moves to rebuild the force.
In a recent announcement, Defence Minister Fabian Pok says a total of 30-million kina has already been secured, together with an added savings of 10-million kina to carry out this exercise. Minister Pok says, the renovation and maintenance works will also cover purchasing white goods for military personnel. "We have all agreed that this money will now be going to maintaining all barracks houses. "Unit Commanders must take on the responsibility to ensure what kind of houses have to be maintained first. "Another K10m is now being allocated, and we will be buying all the white goods, which includes a stove, a fridge and a washing machine for all houses throughout Papua New Guinea. "And this is one of the many programs the Government is initiating to rebuild the Defence Force, and I urge everyone to cooperate and work together," Minister Pok said.
