The People's National Congress has announced the sacking of the Member for Lae, Loujaya Kouza from the ruling party.
PNC's Deputy Leader and Fisheries and Marine Resources Minister, Mao Zeming made the announcement today, saying the party will formalize her removal. Mr. Zeming, says the party has heard the ranting from Ms. Kouza in the media and in public forums and is disappointed with her behaviour, as Jason Gima Wuri, reports. Mr. Zeming said, the claims and accusations are outrageous that most cannot be printed in newspapers and should probably be the subject of legal action. He sais, she tried drawing religion into her political accusations in a very distasteful manner, saying Kouza must have respect for churches and the people, and not misuse the Lord's name in her political accusations. Mr. Zeming says the public rightfully expects elected members to be vocal on issues of public importance, but to do so in the correct manner. He says, PNG is a democracy where Members of Parliament have every right to free speech, but are also bound by conventions of decency, respect and common sense. Mr Zemming claims, all these qualities have been missing from Kouza’s ranting in recent months and the PNC has no place for her kind of behaviour. Meantime, Ms. Kouza has joined the Opposition following her sacking from the ruling PNC Party.
