The Public Employees Association has notified the Office of the Industrial Registrar to conduct a secret ballot for industrial action.
This follows the breakdown in negotiations over the new public servants salary fixation agreement, between them and the Department of Personnel Management. P-E-A General Secretary, Guise Kula says, they've advised their members nationwide, and are now awaiting a response from the Office of the Industrial Registrar. Mr. Kula made this known at a media conference in Port Moresby yesterday. The P-E-A and the department are expected to sign a new salary fixation agreement for 2014 to 2017, as the current one expires at the end of this month. The Union wants the rate to be raised from 7.5 percent to eight. But, D-P-M Secretary, John Kali, will not entertain this increase due to the current economic downturn. Comments are closed.
