By Calvin Caspar:
The Opposition has described Finance Minister James Marape as a liar, urging his Seventh-Day Adventist church to take actions against him, after producing evidence of the Minister failing to pay the balance of their District Service Improvement Program or DSIP money from last year. Minister Marape was reported by newspapers of already paying 7-million Kina to the Bulolo District Treasury account on Friday. However, Deputy Opposition Leader Sam Basil told reporters, this is not true. "My District Treaurer confirmed that there was no K7m received at the District Treasury, as claimed by the Minister. "I've got statements to prove, but I cannot release them. "I can only give you (the media) a confirmation letter by my District Treasurer. "James Marape has been lying and continues to lie. "Im calling on the President of the SDA Union of churches in PNG and all churches where James Marape attends and is allowed to preach on the pulpit, and I also hear that he sings in the choir, I'd like all those pastors to ex-communicate him, or dis-fellowship him as what they do in SDA church," Mr. Basil said. Opposition Leader Belden Namah says the government's actions is also against the Constitution. "The confirmation by my deputy is a similar confirmation I would give of the Vanimo-Green River District. "These continuous blatant lies by the Prime Minister and senior ministers of his cabinet, is a direct breach to the Preamble of our Constitution, where it talks about fair and equal distribution of the nation's wealth, Mr. Namah said. The Opposition says it is putting these evidence together for a court challenge scheduled for the 12th of this month, against the Government for penalizing six districts represented by the Opposition, under the DSIP funding.
