The Prime Minister says, a shut down to the Ok Tedi Mine will affect the country's economy.
Peter O'Neil said this follows a global drop in gold and copper prices, as well as other general commodities, over the last 6 months. Ok Tedi Mining Limited announced this week, a temporary shut down of its operations is imminent because of continuous dry weather. The company has been struggling to ship copper ore, cargo and fuel supply along the Fly River, because water level is low.
