Prime Minister Peter O'Neill has blasted the Opposition Leader of trying to hijack the country's economic security by undermining the government's bidding process.
Don Polye had asked why the Government had agreed to a sovereign bond to be mortgaged for the 60 thousand LNG landowners and their 5 Provincial Governments, and a 4 point 2 percent equity, increased the price from 7 hundred million kina to 2 point 5 billion. He also asked how long it will take to repay the loan, and if there were any consultation done with the landowners before a decision was taken. Mr. O'Neill, however, when responding accused Mr. Polye of trying to incite the landowners. "Mi save olsem you know em laikim kirapim bel blong ol landowners, kirapim bel blong ol landowners you know, trying to, you are literality trying to hijack the economy security of our nation by false statements that you are making. Mr. Speaker, that is irresponsible."
