One female is dead while four other males are nursing serious injuries at the Port Moresby General Hospital after their vehicle missed a power pole and ran off the road and rolled over several times at Taihira junction at Magi Highway.
The accident occurred over the weekend. According to Central Provincial Police Commander, Laimo Asi, the five were travelling back to Port Moresby when the incident took place. “The survivors admitted to my officers that they were consuming liquor and were scared of the police so they didn’t stop at the road block at Kwikila,” said Asi. “Yes after the accident, I inspected the vehicle and found empty bottles of beer,” he added. PPC Asi has now called on the travelling public to take heed of the road safety and do not consume liquor whilst travelling on the road. PPC Asi said he has been reminding the people; however, some people ignore the road safety rules. He added that during this independence weekend if people want to consume liquor then they must do that at home and not to drive around under the influence of liquor. Comments are closed.
