Morobe Governor has sacked all l 19 staff working in the Governor’s office, starting from the Chief of Staff to the Cleaner.
He says the directive comes after reports of misconduct and bribery allegations from contractors to failure of completing tasks. Governor Naru says he had given many warnings and the last straw came after angry citizens, frustrated over government grants stormed the Tutumang last month. “It goes without saying, you can see at the back of me, damage of Government offices where the windows are smashed and the walls are smashed in. “ He said the incident brought disgrace to an office that should have the capacity to serve the people of Morobe in the right manner. The Morobe Provincial Government Office will now be functioning on a skeleton staff of consultants and contracted workers. New directions have been given to hire new people. “All positions in the Governor’s office will be advertised within the next week or so. And I will call on all professionally competent and qualified Papua New Guineans to apply to my office to work with me”, Governor Naru said. Vacant positions will be properly advertised. The Governor says the office will try to get the right people for the jobs. PNG Facts / EMTV Comments are closed.
