Former Petroleum and Energy Minister Ben Micah has called on foreign investors to wait until next year’s national elections before investing in Papua New Guinea. “I want to tell the foreign investors that the resources that you want don’t belong to the Prime Minister Peter O’Neill but to the people,” Micah said. “So don’t panic. We’ve got an election coming up in a few months’ time and I suggest you don’t listen to any more about what to do. I know you are smart enough to know the truth. So just stay calm and hope that God will help us to fix this (economical) mess and restore it to a credible future.” The People’s Progress Party leader said the Government could not tell the truth about the status of the national economy. “The economy is bad. Corruption is rife yet the 85 MPs who voted are insensitive and stubborn. I left them because the Prime Minister Peter O’Neill continues to run away from the truth. “I was the only minister who had the guts to tell him the truth. I’m sorry for those 85 MPS who have voted to keep O’Neill on the pretext to get their full (K10-K15million) funds for their provincial/district service Improvement programme. They will not get it.” Micah said he had surprised every one by leaving the Government.
