The Minister for Trade, Commerce and Industry Richard Maru is urging PNG Power to improve more in its electricity service, especially to the rural parts of the country. Minister Maru when presenting a cheque of K100, 000 to PNG Power to continue providing power to his electorate, told the PNG Power Acting CEO that he is not happy with the service given because some parts of his electorate still don’t have power supply despite millions of Kina already given to the company for electricity service. Since taking up office, Maru has given a total of K6.1million to supply power, especially to schools, district officers and homes. Meanwhile, PNG Power Acting CEO Mr. John Yanis admits that there are issues affecting this because of funding constraints and manpower issues; however, he assures the Minister that the power company will continue to improve power supply to his electorate.
