The Education sector in the Yangorru-Saussia District of East Sepik, will receive 10-million Kina, over the next five years.
Local M-P and Minister for Trade, Commerce and Industry, Richard Maru announced this, during a week-long visit to his electorate, this week. The District received 400-thousand Kina for education in the last eight years and Maru plans to improve on this allocation with two-point-five-million Kina to schools there, by the year's end. He says, in line with the National Government's priority on education, he will pump more money into Yangorru-Saussia, to improve school standards. Negre and Paparam Primary schools in the Numbo L-L-G, were the latest recipients of monies amounting to 100-thousand Kina, early this year, with another 50-thousand Kina each, to build their libraries and classrooms, as Eric Tamaan, reports. On Sunday, Minister Maru visited the people of Witipe and Koro in the Sepik Plains of East Yangoru LLG, and presented a cheque worth 760-thousand-Kina, for the construction of a new Health Centre and for roads. Maru highlighted during the occasion, that his people's choice of leadership in the past has resulted in the hardship they are currently faced with, such as no proper roads and infrastructure, run down schools and health centres, and the increase in lawlessness. Minister Maru also visited Sekoro village in the Saussia LLG, where he made funding commitments of 10-thousand-Kina for an elementary school, and a-million-Kina for roads and bridges. He says, after 38 years, a highway will now be built from Hambuke to Munji villages. Comments are closed.
