Finance and Education Minister, James Marape responded to claims made by Bulolo member Sam Basil of diverting his DSIP funds to a landowner company from the Hides Petroleum Development License 1 area.
The Finance Minister responded to allegations by Mr Basil during question time with the media at a news conference recently. Mr Basil has repeatedly claimed that Minister Marape was giving prominence to this particular payment, but Mr Marape denied any personal connection with the company. Minister Marape said the payment was made after a series of discussions between the Finance Department and the National Planning Department. Prior to the company receiving the K2 million payment, Mr Marape said the company PNG Power Boss Limited had submitted a proposal to the National Planning and Monitoring Department and Finance Department in 2009. He says, Mr Basil should not mislead the Bulolo people as the money is for outstanding MOA payments to landowner companies in the LNG Project areas. Mr Marape then outlined the DSIP allocation for Bulolo district saying the DSIP funds were allocated to the deteriorating police and health facilities in the electorate. Mr Marape is inviting Mr Basil for a roundtable discussion to solve this matter in an appropriate way. PNG Facts / EMTV Comments are closed.
