Madang Governor, Jim Kas says he will go ahead with the Manam Resettlement project despite it being halted by the Bogia M-P, John Hickey.
The governor through N-B-C Madang, has assured the people of Bogia and Manam that he will proceed with the project with or without their local M-P. The Manam Resettlement Project was halted indefinitely, following concerns by Mr. Hickey, of being left out of the Manam Resettlement project, by the Madang Provincial Government and Administration. But Mr Kas has written to the Madang provincial administrator, Ben Lange, advising of his move. An irritated Mr. Kas stated that for too long Mr. Hickey has been sitting on the problem and has not shown any interest on the project in the past nine years that he was Member for Bogia. He sees no reason why the project has to be stopped, now that the actual work has begun on the resettlement. Mr. Kas is appealing to the educated elites of Bogia District not to listen to Mr. Hickey as the project will not only benefit the people of Manam but the entire Madang province and the neighbouring East Sepik. He said it is shameful that some of the intellectuals from Bogia are actually supporting Mr. Hickey to stop the project. Comments are closed.
