The wait for Relief Supplies is finally over for the people living in the Care Centres on Manam Island, Madang province with the first lot of food supplies ready to be given out anytime today or tomorrow.
According to Madang Disaster Coordinator, Rudolf Mongalee that the main supplier Papindo Madang has already given his office the Supplies after receiving their restock and his team is ready to roll out the supplies. “A total of 1, 300 bales of Rice and Flour each including cartons of tinned fish and Oil packed in containers are currently with me and we are just waiting for the fuel voucher to get fuel to help transport the supplies to the Island,” says Mr Mongalee. He said once they are able to secure the fuel voucher than they should be rolling out the food supplies to the care centre by this afternoon or tomorrow. Meanwhile, Mr Mongalee added that although other parts of the province have been affected by the prolonged dry spell there is nothing much his office can do as they do not have any funds allocated to the Provincial Disaster office while their main concern is the people living in the care centres.
